Old vs. New Retweets, and Twitter’s Plight for Control.

A recent poll has indicated that users prefer the old retweet method to the new one, instituted by Twitter within the past two months. The poll , conducted by Karen Goel, found that 64% of participants prefer the old version of retweets. Are users longing for the old retweets because of nostalgia, or did Twitter make a misstep in switching up the retweet process

Detroit News Anchor Realizes How Twitter Has Changed How He Engages With Viewers

One of the key points we tried to hammer home at our Techdirt Saves* Journalism event in June was the importance of realizing that news organizations are really in the business of building community . So many in the news business focus on the belief that they’re in the “news” business, but that’s never really been the case. The news has always been the piece that brings together a community (and the business of a news organization has usually been to then sell that community’s attention to advertisers)

Twitter Annotations Not Coming Soon, After All

This Spring at Twitter’s first developer conference Chirp the big splash was a forthcoming feature called Annotations. The feature will allow publishing software to annotate Tweets with a wide open variety of metadata, which could then be read and analyzed by other software.
