For smartphone owners, asking people on the street for directions is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Why bother trying to remember a series of turns and landmarks when your phone can do that and more? Who needs confusing descriptions when you have satellite and Street View imagery?

As the world transitions from feature phones to smartphones, more personal data will be stored locally or available through the cloud on the handheld we tote everywhere. That’s both good and bad. Having instant access to our information is a time saver and allows us to do more on the go.
