When Tim Berners-Lee arrived at CERN, Geneva’s celebrated European Particle Physics Laboratory in 1980, he’d been hired to help replace the control systems for several of the lab’s particle accelerators. Almost immediately, the inventor of the modern Web page noticed a problem: thousands of people were coming and going from the famous research institute, many of them temporary hires.

YouTube might be streaming more than 13 billion videos a month, or nearly 40 percent of total individual streams, but when you measure by time spent YouTube only accounted for 26 percent of all viewing minutes on the Web last year. It is not surprising that it commands a smaller share of time spent watching videos than number of streams watched, since most YouTube videos are so short. But what is surprising is how fragmented the Web video landscape remains once you go out past the top 25 sites

Wonder Festival 2010 Winter was held over the weekend in Japan, and featured loads of cosplayers . It also featured loads of new video game toys. While we’ve shown you some of the figures on display ahead of time, many more made public debuts at the show, like these guys: Jack Frost from Persona, Muramasa, Virtual On goes cute, some Tales of Vesperia figures and a blurry, yet still tempting, “Super Action Statue” of Yakuza’s Kazuma Kiryu.

Motorola DROID users as a whole are a pretty happy bunch, but after finally getting their first taste of official multi-touch , we can’t help but blame them for wanting a whole lot more. The good news on this front is that Android 2.1 for the DROID will be made available next week, according to Motorola’s Facebook page. Motorola has not detailed what the update will encompass, but here’s what Engadget has been told : The current test build is Android 2.1 version 1 The browser will have multi-touch Google Googles is pre-installed No change visual changes to the homescreen or app drawer Active wallpapers aren’t include, but the fancy widgets that made their debut with the Nexus One are Most of us probably agree that things like multi-touch in the browser are big news, but we can’t help but eagerly wait to see what all the Negative Nancy’s out there have to say about some of the nifty features that will allegedly be left behind.
